Badge proposal, April 2007
> Proposal for allowing trans individuals to use their names of choice while attending the Human Rights Council sessions

This proposal was discussed with the Liaison Officer, Non-Governmental Organizations, Office of the Director General in Geneva. He took up the matter with the Security Office and went over different alternatives with them. Unfortunately, the Security Office could not do anything as it has strict orders from the Swiss government to not accept anything other than an “official document issued by a UN member state” as proof of identity and that the name on the badge has to be the same as this official document.
